Description
Celebrate with a festive American flag cake perfect for the 4th of July. This cake features moist layers, creamy frosting, and fresh berries for a patriotic touch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (15.25 ounces) white cake mix
- 1 and 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large egg whites
- 1 container (16 ounces) vanilla frosting
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and egg whites. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cake is completely cool, place it on a serving platter.
- Spread the vanilla frosting evenly over the top of the cake.
- Arrange the sliced strawberries in horizontal rows across the cake to create the red stripes of the flag.
- Place the blueberries in the upper left corner of the cake to represent the stars.
- Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure the cake is completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
- You can use any white cake mix you prefer.
- Fresh berries work best for this recipe.
