This recipe combines classic tuna melt ingredients with crispy bacon for an extra layer of flavor and crunch. It’s a satisfying and easy-to-make meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna in water, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 4 slices bread (your choice)
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Gently fold in the crumbled bacon.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Top each bread slice with one slice of cheddar cheese and one slice of provolone cheese.
  6. Spoon half of the tuna mixture onto each cheesy bread slice.
  7. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  8. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of mayonnaise to your preference for a creamier or drier tuna salad.
  • Try adding a pinch of garlic powder or a dash of hot sauce to the tuna mixture for extra flavor.
  • Any type of cheese that melts well can be used.
  • For extra crispiness, toast the bread lightly before assembling the sandwich.
