This extra cheesy tuna noodle casserole features multiple layers of cheese for a melty, comforting bake. It is a classic comfort food elevated with rich, creamy textures and savory flavors.

- 12 ounces egg noodles
- 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
- While noodles cook, in a large bowl, combine drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Add the cooked and drained noodles to the tuna mixture. Stir gently to coat.
- Stir in 1.5 cups of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese and all of the mozzarella cheese into the noodle mixture.
- Pour half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle with the remaining 0.5 cup sharp cheddar cheese and half of the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Add the remaining noodle mixture to the dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and melted butter. Stir until crumbs are coated.
- Sprinkle the buttered panko breadcrumbs and the remaining half of the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For an even richer flavor, use full-fat milk and sour cream.
- You can add frozen peas or corn to the noodle mixture for added vegetables and color.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
