Description

This extra cheesy tuna noodle casserole features multiple layers of cheese for a melty, comforting bake. It is a classic comfort food elevated with rich, creamy textures and savory flavors.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
  3. While noodles cook, in a large bowl, combine drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  4. Add the cooked and drained noodles to the tuna mixture. Stir gently to coat.
  5. Stir in 1.5 cups of the shredded sharp cheddar cheese and all of the mozzarella cheese into the noodle mixture.
  6. Pour half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle with the remaining 0.5 cup sharp cheddar cheese and half of the grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Add the remaining noodle mixture to the dish, spreading it evenly.
  9. In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and melted butter. Stir until crumbs are coated.
  10. Sprinkle the buttered panko breadcrumbs and the remaining half of the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the casserole.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
  12. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, use full-fat milk and sour cream.
  • You can add frozen peas or corn to the noodle mixture for added vegetables and color.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
