- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocado with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
- Add the chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
- Gently mix all ingredients together until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover and refrigerate.
Notes
- Choose ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
- For a spicier guacamole, leave some of the jalapeño seeds.
- To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before storing in the refrigerator.
