Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Add the chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  4. Gently mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover and refrigerate.

Notes

  • Choose ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • For a spicier guacamole, leave some of the jalapeño seeds.
  • To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before storing in the refrigerator.
