Description

A refreshing homemade cherry limeade, perfect for a summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice (from about 8-10 limes)
  • 1 cup cherry syrup (see notes for how to make)
  • 4-6 cups cold sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice
  • Fresh cherries and lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Fill glasses with ice.
  2. Add 1/4 cup lime juice and 1/4 cup cherry syrup to each glass. Adjust to your taste.
  3. Top with sparkling water or club soda.
  4. Stir gently.
  5. Garnish with fresh cherries and lime slices.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • To make cherry syrup: Combine 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries (pitted), 1 cup water, and 1 cup granulated sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cherries are soft and the liquid is slightly thickened. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the cherries to extract all the liquid. Let cool completely before using. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • You can adjust the sweetness and tartness by adding more or less cherry syrup or lime juice.
  • For a non-sparkling version, use still water instead of sparkling water or club soda.
