Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8-10 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado, salsa


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through.
  4. While the shrimp is grilling, warm the tortillas according to package directions.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream or yogurt, lime juice, and minced garlic to make the lime crema.
  6. Assemble the tacos by filling each tortilla with grilled shrimp.
  7. Drizzle the lime crema over the shrimp.
  8. Add optional toppings as desired.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spice level.
  • You can use frozen shrimp, just make sure to thaw and pat them dry before marinating.
  • For a smoky flavor, use smoked paprika.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the shrimp in a hot skillet.
