A classic retro summer dessert featuring a salty pretzel crust, creamy filling, and sweet strawberry topping.

- 4 cups crushed pretzels (about 1 16-ounce bag)
- 1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 8-ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 2 3-ounce packages strawberry-flavored gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups cold water
- 4 cups sliced fresh strawberries (about 2 pounds)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Fold in thawed whipped topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
- In a separate bowl, dissolve strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Stir in cold water.
- Gently fold in sliced strawberries. Pour gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- Ensure the pretzel crust is completely cool before adding the cream cheese layer.
- Make sure the gelatin layer is set before serving.
- Fresh strawberries work best for flavor and texture.
