Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds skirt steak or flank steak
- Juice of 2 oranges
- Juice of 2 limes
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 12 small corn tortillas
- For serving: diced white onion, cilantro, salsa, avocado
Instructions
- Trim any excess fat from the steak.
- In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add the steak to the marinade, ensuring it is fully coated. Marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 8 hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Grill the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
- Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before thinly slicing against the grain.
- Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet until pliable.
- Assemble the tacos by filling each tortilla with sliced carne asada.
- Top with diced white onion, cilantro, salsa, and avocado as desired.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For best flavor, marinate the steak for at least 4 hours.
- Adjust the grilling time based on the thickness of your steak and your preferred level of doneness.
- Warm the tortillas just before serving to prevent them from becoming stiff.
